Loss of Your Driver’s License

At fault party doesn't have insurance

Florida law allows a police officer to confiscate your driver’s license on the date of your arrest for DUI in two situations. The first situation is when you refuse to take a blood, breath, or urine test when lawfully requested to do so. The second situation is where you agree to take the test, but fail it.

In either of these situations, the officer is empowered to take your license and the citation for DUI will constitute a ten-day temporary license to allow you to legally drive while you get your affairs in order. Upon the expiration of the temporary license, your regular license will be revoked or suspended and should you continue to drive you could be subject to additional charges and penalties including fines and imprisonment.
